Description
Portrait of Nico, a singer who was part of the underground Andy Warhol scene. She performed with Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground for a while. One of my series of artists/musicians who died tragically. What was tragic about her death was that she was addicted to heroin for over 15 years. Then she got herself off of it somehow. And died a year later from a brain hemorrhage. It's so hard to get off heroin, so to me...if you manage to DO it at ALL, you should get to live a full life. Just my opinion, but it makes me sad. And inspired this painting.
